काल पुस्तकपेठ ने किशोर कदम यांची मुलाखत आयोजित केली होती. त्यात कदम यांनी गुलझार यांची एक आठवण सांगितली... शेअर करावीशी वाटते... काही वर्षांपूर्वी नाटकासाठी कदम, गुलझार एका ग्रुपबरोबर न्यूयॉर्कला गेले होते. वेळ होता म्हणून ते सर्व statue of liberty बघायला गेले. पुतळ्याला जाण्यासाठी बोटीने जावे लागते. बोटीला साधारण अर्धा तास होता. तुरळक गर्दी होती. दाट धुके पसरले होते. सुखद थंडी होती. मंद वारा वहात होता. बाजूलाच नदी वहात होती. लांबवर पुतळा दिसत होता. कदम वातावरणाने मुग्ध झाले. बाजूला एकटेच एका बाकावर जाऊन बसले. काही वेळाने समोरचे धुके जरा विरले. त्यात त्यांना गुलझार एकटेच कठड्याला रेलून शून्यात लांब पुतळ्याकडे बघत असताना दिसले. काही वेळाने कदम त्यांच्या जवळ जाऊन उभे राहिले. बहुधा गुलझार यांना त्यांची चाहूल लागलीही असेल, पण त्यांनी तसे काही दाखविले नाही. काही काळ ते दोघेही तसेच काही न बोलता नदीकडे, बोटींकडे, पुतळ्याकडे शून्यात बघत राहिले. अचानक कदमांनी सहज विचारले, ‘सर, आपको तैरना आता है ?’... गुलझार तसेच समोर शून्यात बघत राहिले आणि काही काळानंतर म्हणाले, “नही, लेकीन डूबना आता है.” by atul lande sir
